This Month's Activity: Unbirthday Party
We had so much fun at our unbirthday activity this week! We started out with tons of pizza and cake and after everyone was completely stuffed we got comfortable in Erin Smith's basement and watched Meet the Mormons. If you haven't had a chance to see that movie yet please borrow/rent a copy and watch it with your family - you won't regret it. The movie does an excellent job of portraying how diverse and different the members of our church are while still being united in faith and family values. Just as we learned in our last activity that focused on our international sisters, we are all different and have had different experiences with visiting teaching or church service, but we share a dedication to our beliefs and that brings us closer together.

Family History Sunday School: Lesson 4
Lesson Summary - Recording Family History Information
- "The Angels May Quote from It" - President Spencer W. Kimball (Feb 2003 New Era)
- The Savior emphasized the importance of keeping records
- Begin with yourself by creating your own journal
- Be your true self and do not over-emphasize the negative
"What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?"
- Some suggestions for recording information:
- Use complete names and be consistent when you are adding information
- Also pay close attention when you are searching for your ancestors so you do not research the wrong lineage
- Information that you add on your tree for your living relatives will not be available even to those relatives; it will only exist in your tree due to the privacy policy
- The information will be merged once the person has passed on
- FamilySearch Tree - Android App details
- This is a free app that is available for both Apple and Android devices that will link to yourfamilysearch.org account
- Install it, check it out and let us know what cool things you've been able to do on it

Sisters Around the World
RS February Activity: Sisters Around the World Potluck
To go along with our theme, we had an activity so that we could get to know each other better! At the activity, sisters were encouraged to bring food that represents where they grew up. The activity started with some getting to know you questions at different tables about hobbies, your five minutes of fame, favorite movies, etc. We also enjoyed eating a wide variety of foods from salads to pot stickers to cream pies! To end the activity, we highlighted five sisters from the ward who have lived abroad: Yolanda Sebresos who lived in Kenya for 10 months, Heidi Hurtado who grew up in Venezuela, Samantha Taylor who grew up in the Philippines, Lexi Van Vuren who grew up in South Africa, and Ashley Taylor who served a mission in Japan. We asked each of the sisters three questions about the gospel abroad. The overarching theme was the dedication of the members of the church throughout the world. Brothers and Sisters in all areas made great sacrifices to make it to church every Sunday and to complete their visiting teaching but did it because of their love of the Savior and His gospel!

This Month's Activity: FHE Binders
President Kimball said in regards to VT: "Your duties in many ways must be much like those of the [home] teachers, which briefly are 'to watch over the church always' -- not twenty minutes a month but always -- 'and be with and strengthen them' -- not a knock at the door, but to be with them, and lift them, and strengthen them, and empower them, and fortify them -- 'and see that there is no iniquity,...neither hardness,...backbiting, nor evil speaking.'"
This quote is a reminder that VTing is a way to improve/build our relationships with people through real Christ-like service. We are not limited to those we are assigned to by the R.S. Presidency. Rather, to ANYONE the Lord see's fit; regardless of their religion, age, or family status. If we are in tune to the spirit the Lord will direct us to those who need us.
The sisters met in the R.S. room to make FHE Binders. There were close to 40 sisters in attendance. Not everyone made a binder and those who didn't enjoyed chatting and helping others make their binders. We also had delicious cookies, cheesecake and veggies to snack on while we worked/visited.

This Month's Activity: Craft Night
The activity committee did a fabulous job planning this month's craft night! We made candy corn banners, BOO signs and scrap wood pumpkins. Bummed you didn't make it? Scroll down to get links and instructions to make your own!
Thanks to Britney McCloud for taking photos!
Candy Corn Banner
Supplies:
Beadboard cut into equal size triangles
yellow and orange paint
twine
paint brush
Instructions:
After 2 coats of paint has dried you can start to sting the twine through the banner.
For measuring how much twine you'll use, Lay the candy corn triangles out with about an inch in between. Make sure you leave about 6" on each end also.
Tape one end of the twine to make it easy to go through each hole.
(I also tied one knot per triangle to make sure it says put. It might not be necessity though :)
Wood Scrap Pumpkins
Supplies:
4x4 cut down 4", 5", and 6", found in the scrap bin at Lowes
Instructions:
Paint wood stem and hot glue on top of pumpkin.
Tie bows and hot glue them to the base of the stem
